This course explored:

Also part of the course were trips to other galleries in the UK and a national qualification for taking part.

Free art course for adults

Come and join a free six week art course. Make artwork, experiment, share ideas and try new things in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Looking with Painting and Photography

A twenty week course exploring the relationship between painting and photography from 1840 to the present day, run by the University of Kent working with Turner Contemporary.
Wednesdays, 6-8pm from 30 September 2009, Droit House, Stone Pier, Margate.

How do we make sense of the images around us? How do we 'look' and what do we 'see'?
Discover new ways of looking at photographs in relation to paintings, as an introduction
to the fascinating history and many different types of photography.

This course is led by Jan Annoot and taught through informal presentations and discussions.It is designed for people who are interested in visual art, but have not studied the subject before (i.e. for non-graduates).By completing the course you will gain 30 University credits.You can build these credits and when you have accumulated 120 you will be awarded the Certificate in Combined Studies (CCS) from the University of Kent. You may also be able to transfer appropriate credits to a subject specific certificate or degree programme.

Contact the CCS office for advice. The fee for the course is £200. The University may offer
fee support depending on your household income or if you are in receipt of certain
means-tested benefits.
