Generate
Since December 2009 Turner Contemporary has been working in partnership with Thanet College to offer children centres and schools across Thanet the opportunity to host free creative and fun artist- led Generate workshops for parents and their children. Generate workshops explore and promote creative exchange between generations. The workshops aim to help more local people enjoy and participate in art. They offer a great opportunity for parents and their children to work with Generate artists, make artwork, share ideas and try new things in a relaxed and friendly community setting, thereby fostering family and community cohesion and raising aspirations and ultimately, opportunities. The workshops have been part of 'Family Fit', a partnership project led by Thanet College and funded by Thanet Works. The fundamental objective of this wider project is to open up the concepts of art, design, music, the environment and employment-related skills and training to a wider audience and in so doing engage with those who may perceive themselves playing some role in the development of cultural awareness and appreciation in the area. Make your own artwork, share ideas and try new things in a relaxed and friendly gallery setting. All workshops are free so just drop in. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
