Turner Contemporary is the South East’s newest and most spectacular venue for hire. Its coastal location and striking building, designed by award-winning architect David Chipperfield, offers a truly unique and inspiring setting for all corporate and private events, weddings, parties and more.
Located in the historic seaside town of Margate, the gallery overlooks the North Kent coast, and the same beautiful skies that Britain’s best-loved painter JMW Turner described as ‘… the loveliest in all Europe’. The Foyle Rooms
Located on the ground floor adjacent to our Sunley Gallery, the Foyle Rooms is a flexible space that can host events of up to 120 people seated theatre style and 150 people with a mixture of seating and standing.
As a dedicated event space, the Foyle Rooms is ideal for corporate and private events such as conferences, meetings, presentations, training days, staff away days, award ceremonies, as well as private celebrations, birthday parties, and is a truly spectacular place to get married. With endless sea views, the room captures Margate’s famous sunsets and evokes a calm, relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, whatever the event. It even has its own private terrace for your guests to enjoy.
The room can be hired whole, or for smaller events can be split into three subdivisions– this means that you don’t have to hire different venues for invigorating meetings or training, we can tailor the space to suit you.

Whatever your event requires, the Foyle Rooms has superb state-of-the-art facilities, including an IT/AV suite with free Wi-Fi, high-tech full wall projection, integrated sound system with wireless and wired microphones offering full room speaker coverage, an HD Sat/DVD and CD player, fully adjustable lighting, induction loop, as well as video conferencing, live streaming and dedicated event furniture, chosen especially by architect David Chipperfield.
The Foyle Rooms also has fantastic acoustics for music, with specially fitted sound-enhancing walls and curtain.

Our second floor venue space overlooks Margate Harbour, the sweeping coastline of Margate sands, and looks out to the iconic Reculver Towers, making for a sensationational backdrop. Here we can host up to 120 people seated theatre style and a combination of seating and standing for up to 150.
As our dedicated education space, the room is equipped with its own furniture, storage space, utilities area and rest area, so your guests can enjoy an entirely private setting. The space has a Stoh ceiling for acoustic enhancement, which is excellent for parties, celebrations and weddings.

After hours at Turner Contemporary presents an exciting opportunity for you to hold private events, where you and your guests can enjoy exclusive use of the entire gallery and its exceptional spaces.
Every Monday, except bank holidays, and every evening after 6pm, you can hire our stunning galleries for private views, drinks receptions, talks, lectures – whatever your event may be. The Sunley Gallery has floor to ceiling windows that capture the fantastic light and beautiful Margate sunsets in the evening, as well as our regular changing programme of site-specific commissions.
This sense of privacy means that our spaces become even more flexible and attractive for product launches, fashion shows, photo shoots, gala dinners, award ceremonies and corporate entertaining.

Turner Contemporary café is a relaxing environment to host a range of different events, from parties and receptions to formal private dining. With stunning views across Margate bay and an outdoor terrace, you can enjoy the modern seasonal cuisine, created by our exceptional catering team, whatever the weather.
The café can seat up to 50 people and has dedicated furniture picked especially for the space by the architect David Chipperfield.

Cuisine
Turner Contemporary has an excellent reputation for its exquisite cuisine and service, with The Metro describing both the food and service as ‘worth travelling for’.
From canapés, food platters, barbecues and fork buffets to three course wedding breakfasts and formal dining, we can cater for every requirement and taste. Our creative catering team works with honest seasonal food. We are committed to supporting local businesses, with at least 80% of ingredients sourced from independent Kent suppliers. We only use fresh ingredients, smoke our own fish and poultry, produce chutney and create delicious patisserie.

Delegate rates
Standard delegate rates start from £37 (inclusive of VAT). This includes:
- Room hire from 8.30am to 5.30pm
- Event furniture
- AV equipment
- Flip chart and pens
- Stationery
- Wi-Fi
- Tea, coffee and pastries on arrival
- Light lunch
- Two servings of tea and coffee throughout the day
- Event Manager
- Price based on a minimum of 20 delegates.
